Youth Care
For young people and their parent(s) in Maassluis, Vlaardingen and Schiedam
Mevis is a key partner in the provision of youth care services. We offer help and support to children up to the age of 18 and their parent(s)/guardian(s). This can range from assistance within the neighborhood team to specialized care if needed.
Everyone encounters challenges from time to time, whether you are a young person or a parent. Often, talking to someone you know and trust—such as family, friends, or a teacher—can help. There are also various places where you can receive advice or support, such as the Center for Youth and Family (Centrum voor Jeugd en Gezin). Additionally, you can follow an online module, participate in a course or activity, or receive support in another way. Sometimes, this may not be enough. On this page, you can find information on where to turn for further assistance.

Many parents share similar concerns, such as: "My child is struggling with their behavior," "Could my child have ADHD?" or "My child seems unhappy." If you feel overwhelmed and are struggling to manage on your own, it’s important to reach out. Your local neighborhood team is there to support you, with specific contact options and resources depending on where you live.

Mevis is part of the neighborhood team. The neighborhood team provides support to all residents of a municipality, regardless of age. In Maassluis, Vlaardingen, and Schiedam, Mevis is responsible for the implementation of care and support for children up to the age of 18 and their parent(s)/guardian(s) within the neighborhood teams. This support can be provided within the neighborhood team but can also involve specialized care if necessary.
Mevis collaborates with many organizations in Maassluis, Vlaardingen, and Schiedam. Together, we will look for the best support options within the neighborhood team. If more assistance is required beyond what the neighborhood team can offer, we will find the organization that best suits your situation. This will always be a care provider that has a contract with Mevis. If no contracted care provider can offer the necessary support, a personal budget (PGB) may be an option.
No referral from a GP is needed. Feel free to contact us, and together we will determine what support is necessary.
The pathway from education to the neighborhood team goes through the youth professional at school. However, parents can also register directly with the neighborhood team via the website or by phone.
You can discuss any questions about a PGB with your contact person at the neighborhood team.
If you receive both a PGB and benefits, you must report this to the UWV. The UWV will inform you whether the PGB affects the amount of your benefits. It is important to be honest about your PGB. Failing to report it could result in a fine from the UWV.
